We, City Theatre Banská Bystrica, warmly invites you to participate in reviving a nearly century-old theatre building, which is to become the centre of the city’s cultural and artistic life. Together, we can create space for new theatre performances, music, art that will enrich Banská Bystrica for generations to come.
We invite you to discover the history and ongoing journey of theatre in Banská Bystrica. Despite the city’s rich heritage in history, culture, and sports, it has never had a dedicated municipal theatre space. Therefore, the theatre now resides in the Evangelical Society House, perfectly suited for artistic activities in the city center. We will be very happy to welcome you here for all sorts of cultural acts: theatre, dance, singing, music, on both amateur and professional levels. Furthermore, the space is available for rent to host cultural and social events.
Currently, the stage of the theatre hall requires an extensive and urgent reconstruction. We are actively reaching out to generous patrons of the arts, sponsors, authorities, public and private funds and foundations for financial support. Their help and generosity as well as your donations, no matter how small, are very welcomed. Every euro counts, every cent contributes to the revival of the theatre hall and to the rebirth of the city’s art and culture.
